Seattle Seahawks Cornerback Jeremy Lane Questionable for Sunday, Defensive End Cliff Avril Ruled Out

The Seattle Seahawks might have improved their record to 2–2 after a resounding 46–18 victory over the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday, but it was a costly win.

Rookie running back Chris Carson suffered a fracture in his lower left leg during the game and he's done for the year. Left tackle Rees Odhiambo also had to deal with a bruised sternum after he was hit in the chest by Colts defensive end Jabaal Sheard in the second half.

Aside from Carson and Odhiambo, cornerback Jeremy Lane (groin) and defensive end Cliff Avril (neck) also sustained injuries during the game and the Seahawks will likely hold them out of the game against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday.

"He has a groin pull that we need to see how severe that is and what that means for the week. I don't know. It was enough to keep him out of the game, there will be some concern about that," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said of Lane, according to ProFootballTalk.

Lane's status is questionable for this Sunday's game, but Avril has already been ruled out by the Seahawks.

"Cliff's not going to play this week. We're going to take some time to make sure that we're evaluating him well like we talked about, and we're going to hold him out," Carroll said on Wednesday, via NFL.com.

Justin Coleman and Shaquill Griffin should see an increase in minutes if Lane misses time, and Carroll has noted that both of them did a great job against the Colts last Sunday.

Meanwhile, Frank Clark is expected to take over Avril's spot in the lineup and start opposite Michael Bennett. The third-year defensive end replaced Avril when he got hurt and he played fairly well in Sunday night's game. Marcus Smith should see an uptick in playing time as well.
