Seattle Seahawks Interested in Kamar Aiken
Before the free agent signing period began, reports have linked Kamar Aiken to several teams in the league, but he has yet to sign with anyone. Aiken has already visited the Indianapolis Colts last Friday and he left town without a contract. Now, it's the Seattle Seahawks' turn to host the free agent wide receiver.
According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Seahawks are going to do their due diligence and bring Aiken in for a free agent visit on Monday.
Well, the Seahawks don't really need another wide receiver right now. If Aiken signs with the Seahawks, he will have to fight for playing time with the rest of the wide receivers currently on the roster. They already have Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse, Tyler Lockett and Paul Richardson under contract, but a lot of observers have pointed out that the team is probably planning ahead.

Richardson is going to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2017 season and there's a chance the team may decide to release Kearse to clear up more cap space. Well, Kearse was just terrible last season and he even became the fans' favorite scapegoat when they struggled. Cutting him is a legitimate option this offseason.
If Aiken joins the Seahawks, he may even have a chance to compete for the starter job.
"If Seattle did sign him, I would think that's a huge signal pointing toward the end of Jermaine Kearse's time with the Seahawks. Aiken wants a chance to be a starter somewhere so if John Schneider and Pete Carroll lured him to the northwest, I'd imagine there'd be some promise that while he has to compete like every other player, perhaps there'd be less of a road block than how it currently appears," Kenneth Arthur of Field Gulls said in his piece.
Right now, wide receiver isn't really a position of need for the Seahawks, but they will have more depth and flexibility if they sign Aiken.
