Selena Gomez Avoids Justin Bieber at the Met Gala But Runs Into Him at Rihanna's Afterparty

Hollywood's A-list stepped out on Monday night dressed to the nines for the 2015 Met Gala in New York City. On the red carpet, onlookers cheered as celebrity after celebrity posed for the cameras, with the likes of Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and more gracing the event.

One celebrity who captured everyone's attention was Selena Gomez, who wore a white Vera Wang gown and accessorized with a white orchid head piece. The singer-actress walked the red carpet solo, and minutes later, her on-off ex, Justin Bieber, arrived at the event.

Bieber, who also posed walked the red carpet alone, sported a Balmain velvet blazer with golden dragon embroidery, which he teamed with black pants, a black shirt and a black cumberbund.

It was reported that Gomez did her best to avoid her ex as she spent time with some of her friends at the event. But the "Baby" singer couldn't resist complimenting Gomez in an impromptu shout-out. In a video posted by TMZ on Tuesday morning, Bieber is seen getting into a car and driving away from a horde of fans — but not before yelling, "Hey, Selena looked gorgeous at the Met Ball!"

After the red carpet, Us Weelkly reports that both stars went to afterparties in the city. Gomez's first stop was The Standard Hotel, and there, the "I Want You to Know" singer reportedly mingled with Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington and Jessica Alba, and her "Spring Breakers" co-star and good friend Vanessa Hudgens.

After leaving the hotel, Gomez headed to Rihanna's afterparty at Up & Down, where Bieber was already hanging out with Tyga. A source of the magazine says that Bieber "tried very hard" to speak with Gomez at the party, but their encounter was short.
