New photos of Selena Gomez taken during her last performance over the weekend, show the pop singer sporting an "alleged" wrist tattoo that reads "Justin.”

However, it is not known if the inscription is real or not. The photos are sparking debate over blogs, with young teens and children's parents questioning the responsibility of such a move.

It is no secret Gomez is romantically involved with teen heartthrob and singing sensation Justin Bieber, but commentators are questioning whether this new profession of love is too premature?

In a day and age where every breath a celebrity takes is scrutinized and broken down, one would have to consider some of the past successes of celebrities with their significant other tattooed across their body.

Everyone remembers Angelina Jolie's "Billy Bob" or the tattoo swap of ever so popular Charlie Sheen with then wife, Denise Richards. As their marriages ended quickly, they now remain branded by their failure of commitment.

While it may be too early to jump to any conclusions concerning the long term status of Gomez and Bieber, ages 19 and 17 respectably, critics say they should consider the repercussions of such bold statements in the market they inhabit.

Selena Gomez is growing up in the public eye, and while this is tough in itself, harder still is the constant struggle to be a role model to the millions who adore her.

It is just a matter of time before young fan girls begin asking their parents for permission to get their very own Justin Bieber tattoo to show their love for him as well.

Gomez may be thinking long-term based on comments from her boyfriend Bieber to Women's Wear Daily. In a recent interview, Beiber was quoted as saying "I definitely want to be married by 25," and while he did not say to who, it is certainly on his mind.

The Christian Post was unable to gain a response from Gomez's representatives by press time.
