Seth MacFarlane has been selected to host "Saturday Night Live" as the show kicks off its new season on Sept. 15.

NBC's iconic comedy show will enter its 38th season with MacFarlane's leadership.

The hosting duties reflect the success of MacFarlane's hit summer film, "Ted," but his area of expertise also extends to television and music. When asked to host "SNL," MacFarlane said he did not hesitate.

"When things come up, I tackle then if they sound fun," explained the creator of FOX's hit television series "Family Guy."

"That's I decide what to do and what not to do," he told the Associated Press. "It's what sounds like it's going to be a good time."

MacFarlane has given live performances at Carnegie Hall, and he wrote, directed, and provided character voices for "Ted."

"They asked me," he continued ahead of his "SNL" appearance. "It's the kind of thing you don't say 'no' to if you're in comedy. It's a nice break to NOT be the guy in charge."

The season premiere will also see musical guests Frank Ocean as well as John Mayer.

Ocean released his album "Channel Orange" over the summer, which sees Mayer on the track entitled "White."

The 24-year-old rapper and singer confirmed his appearance alongside Mayer on Twitter this week.

"SNL this weekend. Me and the bro John Mayer," posted Ocean.

Moreover, Justin Sudeikis will return to "SNL" and join MacFarlane on the episode Saturday. NBC confirmed the news on Wednesday, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Absent from the new season will be "SNL" veteran cast members Kristen Stewart and Andy Samberg, as well as Abby Elliott, as they retired.

Next up to host "SNL" will be Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who will return to the show for his second time as host on Sept. 22. Mumford & Sons will serve as musical guests.

Then, on Oct. 6, Daniel Craig will serve as host of "SNL" promoting his new James Bond film, out on Nov. 9. Muse will serve as musical guests for the episode.
