'Shameless' season 6 release date, spoilers: A new wrestler fights his way into the show

Finishing strong last season, having an average of 1.58 million viewers per episode, "Shameless" is certainly having a good run. It's no surprise that it would want to make the upcoming season more interesting by adding fresh faces that the audience positively respond to. One of the new actors added to the show is Chris Brochu.

According to the Wrap, Brochu's character is Dylan, a 20-year-old wrestler. He will come into the series after a physical altercation with Lip, played by Jeremy Allen White. For avid fans, it would make sense to see Lip's character be in a fight as he has always been fairly self-destructive in the past seasons. Also weighing in what he and Helene, played by Sasha Alexander, had going on last season, it would make sense that he has a lot of tension built up, leading to a different kind of release instead.

As for Brochu, this would be one of his more notable TV show appearances. Aside from guesting here, he's mostly known for his role as Luke Parker in "The Vampire Diaries." He is also the lead vocalist for a band called "Fall Into Faith." This would be a good break for Brochu, for the reason that original series on networks, like Showtime and HBO, would have far less restrictions and give him more opportunity to act out less typical roles. He will be able to express a much wider range compared to The CW show he was previously in.
There is not a lot of news or details about what's going to happen in the upcoming installment of the show, only minor details from a character or two. Mostly, many speculate that Frank would be dealing a lot with the consequences of the events from last season.

Shameless is a show about a dysfunctional family of six children having a single father, Frank Gallagher, who's drunk all the time. Throughout the show, his children learn to take care of themselves, more often or not, unsuccessfully. Creator of the Showtime series, Paull Abbot, wanted to depict the effects of alcoholism in a family such as Frank's. During its first year run, Abbot describes the family's social status to New York Times, as having, "a much graver level of poverty attached to it. It's not blue collar; it's no collar".

Season 6 of Shameless is set to premiere in January on Showtime.
