Emmy Rossum is reportedly leaving "Shameless" Season 7 after 10 years of playing Fiona Gallagher. Rumors of her departure began circulating after the release of the show's official trailer where her character is conspicuously not seen.
Season premiere synopsis and trailer
Aside from the trailer promo for "Shameless" Season 7, the plot description for the premiere episode was also released. The show's Seasons 5 and 6 can now be streamed on Netflix for fans to enjoy while waiting for Season 7 to premiere.
Rossum once said in an interview that she has played the role for a decade already and is done with it. This may be giving some truth to the rumor of her departure in "Shameless" Season 7 given that Fiona will not appear in the season premiere.
Shopping for a new family
According to the official synopsis of the first episode of "Shameless" Season 7, Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) will wake up from a month long coma only to find out that nobody misses him. Last season, he was thrown off a bridge after he got drunk in Fiona's canceled wedding.
In "Shameless" Season 7, Frank will learn that it was his children who threw him off the bridge. He wants to show all of them that he does not need them in his life. According to spoilers, Frank will be seen at a homeless center and shopping for a new family. It remains to be seen if his new family will be better than the one he left behind.
Debbie resorts to something unconventional
Debbie's (Emma Kenney) life will be a mess on "Shameless" Season 7. She learns that she has to pay over three hundred thousand dollars to cover the bills in her stay at the house. She doesn't know how to get enough cash to cover that and provide for baby Franny at the same time.
In the promo trailer for the premiere of "Shameless" Season 7, Debbie resorts to an unconventional and criminal way of getting the cash she needs. She was seen stealing, perhaps to make sure that Franny will grow up to be wealthy after she got worried that she is not being a good mother to her.
Back at the bar
Lip Gallagher (Jeremy Allen White) has successfully completed rehab and is bent on staying sober on his way to having a better life. Fiona wants for him and the others to straighten up their lives and be mature individuals for a change. For a while, the Gallagher kid seems to be doing just that in "Shameless" Season 7. But, Lip is hopelessly alcoholic and it is a big question if he could stay sober enough to keep his promise to his sister.
In the "Shameless" Season 7 promo, Lip is back at a bar but lets everyone know that he is a changed man now. He said he does not drink on an empty stomach anymore. He is seen as if he is preparing himself for another round of heavy drinking. Will he be kicked out of the house by Fiona if she learns he had fallen off the wagon so soon?
As for the other Gallagher boys, Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) looks into surgery to solve his condition as being the only uncircumcised brother. Meanwhile, Ian is getting a bad feeling about a friend of Caleb's (Jeff Pierre), Denise.
The all new "Shameless" Season 7 is set to return on October 2 on Showtime.
