'Shameless' Season 8: Fiona Enjoys the Independent Life

Fiona (Emmy Rossum) is determined to enjoy life as a healthy, single woman in the new season of "Shameless."

Currently, Showtime has yet to release any announcement on when the show will return with new episodes. According to Inquisitr, a 2017 premiere is possible, considering that the last installment aired in October. Still, previous seasons of "Shameless" had a premiere on January or February. If the network decides to follow the said schedule, the chances of a 2018 release may be in the cards. Viewers can expect season 8 to air sometime between October of this year and February of next year.

When it comes to potential storylines, one that viewers are interested to know more is if Fiona will really cut ties with her siblings to lead an independent life.

Last season, she mentioned a number of times that she has had enough of their family's problems. Fiona has always taken care of her brothers and sisters, and now, it seems she is fed up. She quit her job in the diner and bought a laundromat, thinking that she was ready to manage her own business. Soon after, she sold the place and decided she wanted to try her hand in real estate.

Knowing that Fiona was serious with her threats, her siblings promised that they would try their best to lead better lives. Lip (Jeremy Allen White) said he would continue attending his AA meetings and expressed that he wanted to return to college. Debbie (Emma Kenney) wanted to take welding classes, while Ian (Cameron Monaghan) promised Fiona he would not run away again.

As for Frank (William H. Macy), spoilers predict that he would either die an awful father or he will change for the sake of his children. It remains to be seen if Monica's (Chloe Webb) death really had a huge effect on him, just like what he previously said.

"Shameless" is expected to return to Showtime in late 2017 or early 2018.
