There are updates that fans will expect to happen in the new episodes. This includes a new love interest for Emmy Rossum's Fiona Gallagher. This is in line with the surprise that viewers got upon seeing Jimmy reappearing at the season 4 finale.

In a report by Air Herald, they indicated that Justin Chatwin's character was supposedly dead but now is back as Jack. It was assumed that his return could mean that he'll once again try to win Fiona's heart back.

The publication further said that most of the "Shameless" cast members didn't know of Chatwin's return to the set.

"He got his own makeup crew, and his scenes were filmed in secret," the site said. Show runner, Jimmy Wells, remained mum when he was raised with questions regarding Jimmy's disappearance nor offers any explanation of the character's "secret" return.

Meanwhile, TV Line reported that Dermont Mulroney will be joining the show as Sean Pierce, "a recovering addict and the new manager at Patsy's Pies" where Fiona works.

Rumors speculated that Pierce's innocent relationship with Fiona will grow more flirtatious when Season 5 airs.
