Shania Twain celebrated her 48th birthday on Wednesday by dropping some big news about a new album.
The singer told Rolling Stone this week that she has already completed a lot of material for her new album, and that now she is hoping to connect with a producer so that she can get her new material out to her fans.
Shania told the magazine: "I'm pretty much there with my songs. I'm really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer. So I'm listening to a lot of records, doing my homework there, and trying to determine who is the right match."
Twain has had a long break from the music industry, having recorded her last album in 2002, when she released "Up!"
However, despite not releasing any new albums for more than a decade she has been keeping herself busy. She has had a show in Las Vegas, and has more recently been working on her new album.
Regarding what fans can expect, Twain has said that she is not trying to replicate the sound from her old albums, but wants her new work to replicate and reflect where she is now in her life.
Twain said: "I'm different, I've evolved, and I want that to be reflected in the music. At the same time I don't want to abandon the root of what I am. There are probably less upbeat songs… I would say it's more half and half compared to what I would've done in the past, where I would've leaned more towards mostly up-tempo songs.
"I still want to remain positive with my lyrics and stay in that mode with my music, because I enjoy uplifting myself, if you will, with my songs. But at the same time I'm going deeper, and I'm being more realistic with my point of view on things."
Shania Twain's new album does not have any scheduled release date yet, but following her clear announcement that new material is on the way, things could be firmed up in the near future.
