Shannon Miller Pregnant Again Post-Cancer, Former Olympian 'Blessed'

Former Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller has announced that she and husband John Falconetti are expecting their second child.

The pregnancy comes as a surprise, since the 35-year-old just overcame a battle against ovarian cancer two years ago.

A 7-time Olympic gold medalist, Miller announced the miraculous pregnancy on her website Monday.

"Things were going fantastic with the launch of my company, Shannon Miller Lifestyle, my foundation was growing and we hoped our family would expand as well," explained Miller on ShannonMillerLifestyle.com. "Then my world stopped. Instead of calling my parents to tell them they had another grandchild on the way, I was calling to tell them I may have cancer. Our baby plans were put in hold indefinitely."

In 2011, Miller underwent surgery to remove a germ cell tumor, a rare form of ovarian cancer.

Furthermore, Miller's left tube and ovary were removed, and the athlete underwent intense chemotherapy treatments. She and her husband worried that they would never be able to welcome siblings for their son Rocco, born in 2009.

Now cancer free, Miller excitedly shared the good news on her website, writing, "I've been blessed to have the opportunity to do some amazing things in my life, but being a mom is second to none."

The most decorated gymnast in U.S. history and her husband expect the child's arrival this summer.

Miller is the latest Olympic athlete to announce baby news this year.

On Saturday, former Olympic softball player Jennie Finch announced the arrival of her third child.

The silver medalist and her husband, Major League Baseball player Casey Daigle, announced the birth of their first daughter, Paisley Faye Daigle.

"We are so thrilled to announce the birth of our sweet bay girl," the couple told People magazine.

Moreover, Finch took to Twitter with her faith and joy for baby Paisley.

"Thank you Jesus," the athlete posted to her over one million followers. "So blessed to be bringing our bundle of joy to her big brothers!"

Finch also wrote, "Thank y'all for all the sweet words & love welcoming our baby girl! We Are Incredibly Touched! Out hearts are overflowing… thank you! XO"

Furthermore, Olympic beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh Jennings announced that she and her husband were expecting their third child, a baby girl, in April.
