'Silent Hills' Making Noise, Hints of Project Morpheus

"Silent Hills" is again making noise as rumors spread about the game's cancellation after the surprising announcement of fallout between Konami and Kojima Productions. Reports from last year have been circulating about the 2016 release of the game's ninth installation. Amid reports of the separation of the two video game giants, Konami is yet to issue an official statement.

However, fans of the video game became increasingly worried as Konami removed Kojima Production's logo from its website. Some reports maliciously spread that "Silent Hills" will no longer be released to the market.
In a recent update by PlayStation Lifestyle, Konami released a statement after Game Spot noticed the removal of "A Hideo Kojima Game" tagline in both the "Silent Hills" and "Metal Gear Solid 5."

"Konami has switched from a studio-based to a headquarters-based organization, so [Kojima Productions] wouldn't be listed as studio anymore," he said. "At this time, there are no additional updates to share."

Kojima, in an attempt to appease his fans, shares that he is still hands-on with the "Metal Gear Solid" game before officially leaving.

"I want to reassure fans that I am 100% involved and will continue working on 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," he added. "I'm determined to make it the greatest game I've directed to date. Don't miss it!"

While fans are still waiting for any official updates on the future of "Silent Hills," some are speculating that the separation may be secondary to the decision to port it to the Morpheus VR. VG247 speculates that the ninth installment could be a Project Morpheus exclusive.

"Silent Hills teaser P.T. already makes it look like one of the scariest games of all time, but with a little help from VR it might be reclassified as a guaranteed cardiac arrest," the report read.

Project Morpheus is Sony's VR headset that uses an Oculus Rift-like peripheral. "Morpheus" comes from a classical name for a god of dreams.

"Silent Hills" will feature Norman Reedus and is expected to be released by 2016.
