Sinead O'Connor Found: Singer Is Safe, Police Say

An unnamed caller alerted the police after O'Connor left at 6 a.m. for a bike ride on Sunday morning and did not return for 24 hours.

After the Wilmette, Illinois Police Department announced on Monday that they are "seeking to check the well-being of Sinead O'Connor," the authorities called of their search on the same day, stating that the singer has been found and is safe.

BBC News reports that local media say that O'Connor, 49, had been staying with some of her friends for the past few weeks in Chicago before she left for the bicycle ride over the weekend.

The singer has had a history of strong convictions against the Catholic church and in 1992, she ripped a photo of Pope John Paul II on live TV. She has been very vocal about her dislike of the Catholic church's scandal on child abuse.

In November last year, O'Connor sparked worry among friends, family, and fans after she posted on Facebook that she took on overdose. In her post, she noted that she had been staying at an Ireland hotel room under a different name, probably to keep her identity unknown.

According to Billboard, she was later found "safe and sound" and also received medical assistance. Due to the incident, some concerned friends and fans suggested that she might need psychological assessment and treatment.
