'Skyforge' to Launch Open Beta This Month (VIDEO)

"Skyforge," a new action MMORPG from Allods Team and Obsidian Entertainment is set to launch its open beta by the middle of July.

Online developers Allods Team and Obsidian Entertainment have announced they are entering their new action MMORPG, "Skyforge" into open beta by July 16, releasing a trailer showing gamers what to expect.

Inspired by "Blade and Soul" and "TERA," "Skyforge" allows players to take on a combat-oriented character in the world of Aelion, starting as an immortal warrior, gathering followers in the quest to protect the realm, and eventually gaining the strength of a god.

Animated action will allow players to dodge enemy attacks and vanquish foes with battle combos, whether in single player mode, or in a multiplayer team up that includes a social network where players interact and share updates.

Earlier in February, the developers announced their first round of invite-only betas where they gave participants a Founder's Pack entitling them to access four other closed betas, ending in the final upcoming open beta event this July.

The free-to-play sci-fi game will allow players to explore Aelion with two free special costumes available for players who join the open beta within the first two weeks.

The game presents a fully customizable character with 13 different archetypes to choose from and switch between, with a number of classes ranging from Paladins and Knights, Archers and Berserkers, and Necromancers and Witches, depending on the amount of damage players wish to inflict.

Other character classes include Gunners, Kinetics, Crymancers, Lightbinders, and Alchemists.

The upcoming beta will present participants with an improved game build, client user interface, and chat, the newly added Pantheon guilds, new equipment slots, and several other gameplay changes.

The game's website has a sign up page where prospective participants can enter for a chance to receive an official Skyforge website invite that comes with a bonus-laden Founder's Pack, CBT4 access, and early access to the July 16 open beta.
