'Sleepy Hollow' Season 3 Casting News, Update: Fox Series Looking For an 'Angelina Jolie-Like' Actress to Play Betsy Ross

Things are definitely going to be more interesting when the upcoming third season of Fox's hit supernatural TV drama series "Sleepy Hollow" returns to the small screen.

The Tom Mison-led show will be bringing Betsy Ross, the Colonial-era seamstress who is believed to have stitched the first American flag.

She was first introduced back in Season 1 as one of Ichabod's (Mison) former lady friends. Her relationship with Crane was further hinted at midway through the latest season.

According to the media outlet, the Sleepy Hollow producers want to cast in a recurring capacity a "sexy, surprisingly strong spy who works within George Washington's Culper Ring."

"Think more Angelina Jolie than frumpy Martha Stewart — a kickass Mrs. Smith to Ichabod Crane's Mr. Smith," TV Line reported. The character was further touted as a "ruthless, smart and fearless, adjusting to blend in to whatever situation demands, from demure handmaiden to honeypot to cutthroat spy."

It remains to be found out if Betsy Ross will appear in a flashback fashion, like Abigail Adams (Michelle Trachtenberg), or be in the present timeline like Steven Weber's Thomas Jefferson.

For those who missed it, below is the official press release for "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3, which will premiere this Oct. 1.

"SLEEPY HOLLOW picks up after a disquieting break in the demonic action, as our heroes – ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison) and ABBIE MILLS (Nicole Beharie) – adjust to a world seemingly without Moloch, witchy wives, evil sons and headless ex-best friends. However, nothing is ever quite as it seems, and the eerie calm will quickly give way to the next tribulation, driven by a surprising supernatural presence that will challenge Crane and Mills in ways they never imagined."
