'Sleepy Hollow' Season 4 News, Spoilers, Cast Updates: Tom Mison Discusses Crane's New Partner, Life Without Abbie; New Cast and Characters for Season 4

"Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 will essentially function as a reboot of the series, especially after several key characters, including Nicole Beharie (Abbie Mills) exited the series. Fans, however, need not worry about Ichabod Crane (played by Tom Mison) being a lone wolf in Washington for long, as the Colonial Army captain will soon find company in a new ragtag team.

Hopefully, he'll also find love in new partner Diana, who will be played by Janina Gavankar ("True Blood") in "Sleepy Hollow Season 4. In fact, that's exactly what Tom Mison talked about during the New York Comic Con: how Crane will be like post-Abbie, and what he'll do with the discovery that there's a surviving Witness up in D.C.

On moving on from Abbie Mills

In an interview with TVLine, Tom Mison confessed that when Abbie (Beharie) was killed off, he'd thought it was the end of the show. Like everyone, he saw "Sleepy Hollow' as anchored on Crane and Abbie's partnership. Thankfully, however, Ichabod Crane is not the typical hero who broods and pines away for his lost love. In "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4, the hero promises to be more driven and sobered up than ever, propelled by Abbie's sacrifice and doing everything for her, rather than despite her loss.

Fans would recall that during "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3, Abbie had sacrificed herself and her soul in order to take down Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon). This was written in to accommodate her impending exit from the series. Her departure dovetailed with that of other series regulars, including Lance Gross (Daniel Reynolds), Jessica Camacho (Sophie Foster), Zach Appelman (Joe), Nikki Reed (Betsy) and Shannyn Sossamon (Pandora).

Sizzle reel during NYCC

The cast and crew of "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 had also teased a sizzle reel during the New York Comic Con panel, TVLine reported. New characters are bound for the fourth installment of the Fox-based series, including Ichabod Crane's new team mates Jake (Jerry McKinnon) and Alex (Rachel Melvin). They'll be working to find the Second foretold Witness in the Washington archives, which houses "the secret history of America."

John Noble, on the other hand, will be reprising his role as Henry Parrish, Ichabod Crane's son, for "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4. Fans would remember him from the first two seasons of "Sleepy Hollow," who's revealed as Ichabod's son with a witch named Katrina. He's also the Horseman of War, which makes him a pretty dangerous foe as well.

On Diana, Crane's new love interest

During the New York Comic Con panel interview, newcomer Janina Gavankar discussed her character, Diana, who's set to be introduced in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4.. She's an Indian-American single mother, she said, and exists primarily to become the new grounding force of this supernatural world. She's initially disbelieving of the supernatural, as Abbie had been, but later on rethinks her stance as she and Ichabod team up to locate the second foretold Witness.

It is during this mission that she and Ichabod will be able to fill the gaps left behind by those they previously loved: Diana her husband, and Ichabod Abbie. Hopefully, Mison said, that translated into the upcoming "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 episodes.

No date for "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 yet, so stay tuned for updates.
