Smarter AI Assistants May Replace SIRI; Kasisto, Viv Set to Dominate; Preview of Features and Uses

SRI International has developed smarter AI Assistants that may provide more than just general information

The organization behind Apple's Siri seems to be overflowing with more AI concepts. SRI International has released numerous innovations since SIRI, such as bRight, Fast, Lola and Robotics.

Earlier AI Developments

1. bRight was created to keep track of focus. It checks productivity performance by monitoring the eye movement and focus. This software is beneficial to people with similar jobs as with an air-traffic controller.

2. The Fiber-Optic Array Scanning Technology or better known as FAST is the machinery that scans for tumor cells in the body through the bloodstream. Initially, it was invented to detect and obviate cancer cells in breasts and lungs.

3. SRI International also announced their Virtual Bank Teller – Lola – last June 2012. The AI Assistant accommodates banking needs, such as moving money from one account to another to setting up bill payments. SRI International came up with Lola from B Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentina's (BBVA) requests to cut employees' time in answering consumer-related inquiries with common answers.

4. Most of the aforementioned are software. SRI International also focuses on their Robotics Projects with a main goal of providing auto-help from simple to complex human physical work. To name a few, SRI already has ARM-H (Autonomous Robotic Manipulation Hand) and M7 Surgical Robot, among others.

SRI also started an AI-powered calendar app named Tempo which was eventually bought by Salesforce last year.

Kasisto: Business AI

In an interview with Fast Company, Willam Mark, President of SRI's information and computing services, reveals that the new AI Assistant named Kasisto was created to help people keep track of their investments and do business-to-business tasks. This AI Assistant development moves AI conversations from general interests into task-specific ones.

Viv, Kasisto's Rival

SRI's Kasisto may also have a rival in Viv, an AI which can converse closely like a human, is now being considered by big technology companies: Apple, Amazon.com, Facebook, Microsoft and Google. Washington Post reports that these companies see the opportunity of providing their customers with reliable banking and business assistance.

Viv can be used in ordering products, such as pizza and flowers, and delivering them to your doorstep or to a friend's house. It can also turn your lights on and off using Ivee's mechanization. Viv has also partnered with other AI-powered interface, specifically those of SetGuru, Uber, Grubhub, and Zocdoc.
