Mortal Kombat X Character Roster: Smoke and Ermac Rumored to be Included

While still unconfirmed, two more fighters are rumored to making their entry in the MKX character roster - Ermac and Smoke. The rumors for Ermac stemmed from a blog post early this year by senior character designer Bernard Beneteau.

Smoke on the other hand is allegedly seen on Kotal Khan's Sun God fighting style tab at the IGN demo of the game. It would look as if Kotal Khan is holding up some grey ninja, ready to beat him to a pulp. Unless it's just some random grey placeholder to show off Kotal Khan's skills, it could quite possibly be indeed Smoke.

Beneteau had intended the artwork to be a "fan art" but considering he is a senior character designer for NetherRealm Studios, it isn't a far off guess that maybe he was hinting at a new character joining the roster.

The artwork has been titled "Ermac - concept fan art" with the following description "Here is a concept I have been working on during my spare time. Quick maquette in ZBrush, rendered in Keyshot. Textures/paintovers in Photoshop."

Mortal Kombat X is an upcoming fighting game being developed by NetherRealm Studios. It will be the tenth main title in the Mortal Kombat series and is scheduled for an Apr. 15, 2015 release date for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. A port is expected to come out for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 after the initial release.

As the release of the game is still a long way away, character roster updates have been coming slowly and surely. Currently there are already nine characters confirmed to be appearing on the tenth title; Cassie Cage, D'vorah, Ferra and Torr, Kano, Kotal Kahn, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Goro (as a pre-order bonus).

Out of the original character roster, only Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Goro, and Kano will be returning in Mortal Kombat X.
