Solange Knowles: Blue Ivy and Juelz Are Like Siblings

Beyonce Knowles' little sister Solange recently opened up about her family and the singer revealed her hopes that her son Juelz and her niece Blue Ivy will possess the same level of closeness that she and Beyonce have always had.

Beyonce, 31, gave birth to her and husband Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter's daughter in January while Solange, 26, delivered her first child years prior in 2004. Despite the age gap that their children face, the single mom believes that the pair will grow up like siblings.

"[Blue] and Juelz are going to grow up more like sister and brother than cousins," Solange told New York magazine. "Blue comes over, I babysit. [Beyonce] takes Juelz sometimes for the weekend."

Solange, who divorced her son's father Daniel Smith after his birth, expressed her gratitude in having support from her big sister when she and Smith faced marital woes.

"Every time there was drama and I was all the way in Idaho, it was nice to be able to call [Beyonce]," Solange said. "[Motherhood] was always chill and easy but marriage is a whole 'nother ball game."

Knowles has since moved on with her music video director boyfriend Alan Ferguson, and she is currently living in Brooklyn, N.Y. with her son Juelz.

Beyonce, who is often photographed spending time with Juelz, also resides in the New York state area. She and Solange are so close that her little sister was present when she gave birth to Blue Ivy.

"It was beautiful!" Solange told HollywoodLife in June. "I mean she's such an angelic beautiful baby girl. I was there literally when she was born!"

The "Love On Top" singer was also present for the birth of her nephew in 2004 and has previously spoken about it being a surreal experience.

"I've heard [Beyonce] over the years talk about how impactful [Juelz's birth] was in her life," Solange said. "And then I totally understood that it is such a surreal amazing moment and it really, really puts life into perspective."
