Solar Powered Bible Speaks the Word

A new environment-friendly Solar Powered Talking Bible is now available at various websites.

The model contains both the Old and New Testaments in its memory banks, and can be recharged by either the sun or by any light source, such as a lamp.

The device has two core audiences that will get the most satisfaction from it: people that have a "green" mentality, meaning that they want to preserve the earth; and those that are not physically able to read the Bible, such as the visually impaired or the illiterate.

Since the device is solar powered, it reduces the need for batteries and utilizes natural energy. It also cuts down on tree use that would be used to make paper for a printed version.

The Solar Powered Talking Bible is for both Christians and non-Christians alike who are interested in hearing the Word of the Lord. And the portable device is advantageous for people on the go.

The device is getting mixed reviews about its handiness.

"To be fair, it does service those that are seeing-impaired or illiterate - and less batteries are a good thing," reviewed Michael Destries in Green Options. "I just believe that such devices are the beginning of a long list of solar-junk. (The device, not the Bible.)"

The electronic Bible is also being rumored as a possible evangelistic tool in third world countries where literacy is low and batteries are scarce.

As for translations, the device comes in either New Standard American or King James Versions, and has a recording with a real human voice.

A user can jump from chapter to chapter or book to book by using one of the six navigational buttons, or listeners can also jump ahead 15-second intervals. However, there is no navigation by verse.

With one charge, the Bible can last to about 10 hours.

The gadget runs around $100.
