Sonos One Review: On the Audio Quality, Alexa, and Price

Sonos has recently unveiled the Sonos One, which are speakers that will be released with the capability to do more than churning out good quality audio. Alexa will also have to respond appropriately and efficiently do what it was made to do. Here are what the critics say about the Sonos One.

The race for the smart home business has intensified since Amazon made it clear that they were determined to stay ahead of the other tech giants when they launched several devices during their hardware event this year.

According to a review by Ars Technica, there were several good points in the Sonos One. It was able to give excellent audio compared to Google Home and Amazon Echo.

Furthermore, the simplistic design makes it appropriate for anywhere at home, which means that it will virtually blend in with the design of the house. It is also well-equipped to pick up and recognize voice commands that will trigger Alexa. However, there are also cons in the device. The worst thing about it is that it is made to work with other Sonos speakers, which can expensive for those looking to have all of it.

Meanwhile, The Verge also lauded the Sonos One's excellent audio output, as well as the sensitive microphone. It can also stream music from a wide range of providers, while also seamlessly blend in with other Sonos devices. One thing that they had an issue on is the setup, which is quite complicated and can take a while to do. Although it might be straightforward, users might have to redo several steps before getting it right.

The Sonos One also does not have support yet for Spotify, which is the biggest music provider in the business. Although this feature will eventually be released, users will have to use other providers in the meantime. Pre-orders are now available for the Sonos One, with delivery scheduled to start on Oct. 24. It will be priced at $199.
