'Sons of Anarchy' spin-off could be riding again soon at FX
The "Sons of Anarchy" (SoA) could be riding again soon at FX after years of rumors that the show might have a spin-off.
For years, there have been reports that a prequel of Sons of Anarchy will be coming soon, and show creator Kurt Sutter is now beginning to develop a new series set for the popular Northern California motorcycle club. This time, the upcoming SoA spin-off will focus on the Mayans that operate heroin factories and prostitution rings, according to the Entertainment Weekly.
In the past seven seasons of SoA, it can be remembered that the Mayans is the Hispanic MC gang in Oakland that had a tumultuous past with SAMCRO. The Mayans' most prominent member is Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera), who heads the Mayans' Oakland chapter. It is not yet known if he or other main characters would come back for the new projects, Slash Film reports.

Making a spin-off for SoA is a wise move because the show is the most popular show in FX. Last December, the show's finale episode raked in a total of 9.2 million viewers, the report details.
The news of the SoA spin-off comes as AMC's "The Walking Dead" prequel "Fear the Walking Dead" broke records in its premiere. So, making a spin-off for the motorcycle drama does not come as a surprise.
Kurt Sutter is also looking for a showrunner who will handle the Mayans project daily, while he is focused on another FX show, "The Bastard Executioner," which will premiere on Sep. 15.
The new show still has no title and details about it are still scant, but what is known is that Sutter will be an executive producer and Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions will also be among the producers.
The time slot of the upcoming Sons of Anarchy spin-off is yet to be revealed by Sutter or FX.
