Sony Xperia C4 News: Selfie Smartphone Unveiled by Sony

Touted as the newest "selfie smartphone," Sony's newest addition to the Xperia line is the Sony Xperia C4. With its specifications, it is said to satisfy smartphone users who love taking selfies. With its price, it is said to attract buyers who want great specs for a mid-range priced phone.

Also called a PROSelfie smartphone, the Xperia C4 is the successor of the Xperia C3 which was released last year. According to a report in Tech Times, the new phone was unveiled last May 6. Sony's official statement made by a VP at Sony Mobile Tony McNutty said, "Xperia C4 caters to consumers that want a smartphone that not only takes great photos but also packs a punch. Benefitting from Sony's camera expertise, the 5MP front-facing camera with wide-angle lens lets you capture perfect selfies, while its quality display and performance provide an all-around advanced smartphone experience."

The Xperia C4 is not a lightweight when it comes to its specs. It has a 5.5 inch full HD IPS screen with a 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution, better than the 720 pixel resolution of its predecessor, the Xperia C3. It also has a pixel density of 400 ppi and only weighs in at 147 grams.

In terms of processing power, the new phone has a 64-bit octa-core Cortex-A53 processor running at 1.7GHz. It is equipped with 2GB of RAM and comes with 16GB internal storage which is expandable to 128GB using a micro SD card.

Being a selfie smartphone, it boasts of a 5MP secondary camera with a LED flash which is best for taking selfies. This camera also has a 25mm wide-angle lens Sony's Exmor R mobile sensor which allows the user to take photos even in low light conditions. It is also equipped with a Steady Shot feature that counters camera shakes. The main camera is 13MP with HDR and autofocus features. Creative camera apps area also made available such as Style Portrait and AR Mask.

Its 2,600 mAh battery is said to support 12 hours and 47 minutes of talk time. Android 5.0 Lollipop will be its OS and it supports Wifi, bluetooth and NFC and is LTE compatible. There will be a dual SIM variant to be called Xperia C4 Dual and is coming in three color: black, white, and a vibrant green. No word on its pricing yet but it will be available starting June.
