Sony Xperia M5 launched in India, comes with 21.5MP camera and hefty price tag

The latest Sony smartphone to be released in India is the Xperia M5 Dual. According to NDTV Gadgets, the Japanese consumer electronics giant launched the dual-sim variant on Wednesday and was also made available on the same day. The release of the handset to the country is no surprise but the price tag that comes along with it can be surprising to the pocket. The Sony Xperia M5 Dual is priced at a whopping Rs. 37,990 ($572).

But Sony assures consumers that it will be worth the purchase. Available in gold and black, the waterproof smartphone will come with a 5-inch full HD display with Mobile Bravia Engine 2. It will be powered by a 2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 processor combined with 3GB RAM. For its storage capacity, the device will have a 16GB internal storage that will be expandable up to 200GB via compatible microSD card.

Considered an asset to the smartphone is its first-rate camera hardware. International Business Times detailed that it will boast a feature-rich 21.5MP camera. It will also come with Sony's new proprietary IMX230 CMOS sensor, which will allow users to zoom in as much as 5x without compromising the quality. Aside from that, the device also has hybrid autofocus, a f/2.2 aperture and fast autofocus (0.2 seconds). The camera is capable of 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution video recording capability as well. Meanwhile, users can enjoy taking selfies with the use of the 13MP front camera with integrated auto-focus.

It will run with the Android 5.0 Lollipop and is made to be both IP65 and IP68 certified which gives the smartphone the capability to be waterproof and splashproof. With its 2600 mAh battery, the cutting-edge handset can last up to two days. It has capless USB ports which is already an old feature in Sony's flagship Z series smartphone. In terms of connectivity, it will support dual-band Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS with GLONASS and NFC.

Considering its impressive specs and features, the smartphone can be a real competition especially for those who are searching for high-end phones. Source say that Xperia M5 Dual can be up against OnePlus 2, Oppo R7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy A8 and S6.
