The Sony Xperia Z release date should arrive during the first quarter of 2013 in Canada, with Sony recently confirming that the handset would be released in the country on its Twitter account.

Some Twitter users recently asked the Sony Mobile News Twitter account if the company was going to bring the new flagship device along with the Xperia TL to Canada and Sony tweeted back confirmation that it would be releasing both handsets in the region.

"Yes both Z and ZL will be coming to Canada," tweeted Sony Mobile News.

The company did not confirm an official release date, however, it is safe to say that it will probably take place sometime during the first quarter of this year as both the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are expected to arrive in many regions this March.

Specifications for the Sony Xperia Z were finally revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that took place last week.

The new Sony flagship smartphone will feature a 5-inch, 1080p display NFC (near-field-communications), 13-megapixel main camera and a water-resistant exterior.

Other specifications on the Xperia Z include a 1.5GHz asynchronous quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB RAM, one- touch mirroring and 4G LTE.

Sony also introduced the public to the new Xperia ZL, which is another high-end smartphone with the same display camera and processor as the Xperia Z. It comes with one-touch mirroring and 4G LTE and has a maximized display with the highest ratio of screen-to-phone size.

Both devices are extremely impressive and big enough to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. However, they do not feature a comparable accessory to the trademark S Pen that comes with the Galaxy Note.
