Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Benchmark Leaks Show Impressive Specs; MWC 2015 Unveiling Canceled?

For those who have anticipated for Sony to take on the stage to unveil their next flagship the Sony Xperia Z4 at the upcoming MWC 2015, they might find this news a bit disappointing.

Kris Carlon of AndroidPit.com indicated that Sony "will not be presenting the Xperia Z4" during the mobile electronics trade show.

"In the past few weeks an invite to Sony's press conference was conspicuously absent. However, a Sony spokeswoman has told AndroidPIT that Sony will not be holding a press conference at this year's MWC and there are currently no plans for executive meetings on the ground either," the site claimed.

What fans could see during the company's MWC presentation is instead a "rehash" of what they have shown at the CES 2015. These devices, according to them, would include their recently-released wearables, Hi-Res audio innovations "and the usual assembly of smartphones, tablets and smartwatches that we've already seen."

The tech website however noted that Sony might probably announce the new Xperia Z lineup, along with its variants, the Xperia Z4 Compact and Xperia Z4 Ultra, "at a later stage this year."

After this disheartening claim, a report from PhoneArena.com meanwhile said that the device has already been tested on Geekbench.

According to the website, Geekbench has listed a "mysterious Sony device" which runs on an Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS and is powered by the latest Qualcomm MSM8994 processor – the Snadragon 810 – clocking at 1.55 GHz.

The result information also suggests that the next-gen Sony smartphone has 3GB of RAM.

The site further said that the Minato, Tokyo-based tech giant could be releasing not one but two Xperia Z4 versions. One of which will have a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display and the other with 1080p screen.
