Sony Xperia Z5 Premium: Sony Slashes Prices A Few Days After Unveiling

Sony has launched three new smartphones during the IFA 2015, which it calls the Xperia Z5 line of smartphones. When the company announced the phones on September 3, they were available for pre-order on Sony's UK website with relatively high prices: £549 for the Z5 Compact, £599 for the Z5 and £699 for the Z5 Premium. The next day however, Sony seemed to have changed its mind about the pricing, as it slashed the phones' prices significantly. According to a report in Digital Trends, the Z5 Compact is now at £429, the Z5 is now at £549 and the Z5 Premium is now at £629.

Among the three smartphones, it is the Xperia Z5 Premium that some reports are saying is well-worth the investment, especially since a lot more people are looking for high-end or premium smartphones.

Another report in Forbes takes a look at several reasons why one should choose to buy the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. The first reason cited is its 4K or Quad HD screen, which makes for a richer display especially for existing content that requires this high a resolution. According to the report, "the display is excellent" and it is "bright and sharp." The phone's X-reality engine also "upscales HD content to 4K" and this includes YouTube videos and home movies.

The second reason cited by the report is the phone's long-lasting battery. At 3,430 mAh, it is considered large and according to Sony, can last for two days on a full charge. The device also has battery-saving features such as the processor turning off when not in use. It also has one of the fastest charging times with just 10 minutes of charging giving the user 5.5 hours of battery power.

Another reason is the phone's awesome camera. Its main camera is a 23-megapixel one with an autofocus feature that responds in just 0.03 seconds. The camera is also equipped with a 5x clear zoom function and better performance in low-lighted conditions.

Additional security is also something in demand among smartphones these days, and the Z5 Premium also delivers in this aspect. The phone has a touch-based fingerprint scanner that is found at the side of the device, and also doubles as the power button. Given this, the scanner is able to recognize even a partial fingerprint with great accuracy, according to Sony.
