Sony Xperia Z5 Release Date, Rumors: Sony's Next-Gen Flagship to Arrive With Fingerprint Scanner?

It's only about a week since Sony's latest flagship, the Sony Xperia Z4, has rolled out globally. While the new handset is enjoying the spotlight, rumors indicate that Sony's next device will be unveiled in Japan later this year.

Technodify.com shared the rumors that the device, dubbed as Sony Xperia Z5, is expected to launch "sometime in September." Along with the next-gen smartphone, Sony is also planning to bring into the fray the other variants of the lineup including Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Ultra.

Unlike its predecessor, the alleged upcoming device will "introduce some exciting new features."

According to the leaked details, the Sony Xperia Z5 will arrive with Qualcomm's "latest Snapdragon 820 processor." It will be coupled with a huge 4GB amount of RAM and a 4,500mAh battery.

The highlight of the rumor points out to the integration of a fingerprint recognition system. The site noted that although reports aren't still confirmed, the new security system will likely be seen on the home button of the purported device.

The camera spec is also expected to get revamped in the Z5. It is talked that it will sport a 21MP snapper with Sony Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor. It will support 4K video recording and has HDR capabilities.

Despite the huge changes coming into the new variant, the phone will still follow the same OmniBalance design.

None of the details given above has been officially confirmed by the Sony Xperia Z4 maker and that they should be taken with a proverbial grain of salt.
