South America Mission Report: Columbia and Costa Rica
Columbia - Reverend Jose' Lozada Corteza was assassinated, earlier this month by members of an illegal armed group fighting against the country's government. According to the Evangelical Council of Colombia, the gunmen murdered in front of bystanders after singling him out off of a public bus. Ministry leaders ask for prayers to protect missionaries from further targets of violence.
Costa Rica - Latin America Ministries, an international fellowship of men and women who encourage evangelism, disciple-making, leadership formation and compassionate care to the Latin American populous, will host a regional missionary retreat in Costa Rica. Missionary children from Costa Rica will join with children from three other countries to foster unity among the people involved with Missions. Officials hope the retreat will strengthen and encourage those involved.
