'Spider-Man' reboot news, cast, spoilers: Plot possibilities revealed by writers

The "Spider-Man" franchise is going into its nth reboot, and the news has received mixed reactions from fans. It has only been a year since the second installment of Andrew Garfield's "The Amazing Spider-Man" was released. Although the film wasn't necessarily as much of a hit like the first one, many had already warmed up to the idea of Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker.

The decision for the reboot was basically the need to match Spider-Man's timeline to the Marvel cinematic universe currently being created. Garfield's current timeline in his franchise will no longer fit as Marvel wished to later on have the web-slinging superhero join the Avengers. Having the reboot will give them a chance to focus on Peter Parker being in high school and have enough time for the character to be developed, since the commitment needed for the role will take years.

According to Ecumenical News, there will be a lot of differences in the reboot. First would be the absence of Uncle Ben's death. Since the film will focus mainly in Peter Parker's high school life, it won't be including the iconic death of the said character.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were recently interviewed about any plans they have for the film. They confirmed that the third reboot will be stepping away from what Spider-Man viewers have seen in the past, and that it will be more grounded on being more relatable to teenagers in general. Daley is quoted saying, "It'll be a fun departure from the Peter Parker that you've seen where now, he is truly a kid. And I think the stakes are increased in that his struggle through high school is very real and isn't just a sort of side note. It matters now." Goldstein later on added, "We want to explore the fact that just because you get super powers, [it] doesn't make you into a really sophisticated, successful adult. He's still a kid, and he's clumsy, and he's a geek and he's a bit of an outcast and, in many ways, the super powers amplify that and exacerbate his trying to fit in."

Fans of the superhero can check out the reboot as it's set to hit theatres in 2017.
