'Spider-Man' Reboot News, Update: 'Vacation' Writers Officially Confirm Involvement

"Vacation" writer-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are set to pen the script for the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot film.

The new outing will see English young actor Tom Holland headlining a teenage version of the web-slinger. The superhero however is slated to appear first in Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as Tony Stark/Iron-Man and Steve Rogers/titular hero, respectively in 2016, according to Deadline.

After that the friendly, neighbourhood superhero will star in his own standalone movie with Jon Watts as its director on 2017.

The latest development on this report indicated that Daley and Goldstein are now on-board for the project with Watts.

In an interview with NPR, the duo confirmed that they "can finally acknowledge" their inclusion to the project, a fact that they "have been saying no comment for the last week."

"This is the first time that we can say that we are writing it," Daley said.

"He's a sharp kid and witty and kind of deals with the fact that he's an outcast and a geek through humor. It is sort of the safety net for geeks like us, so I think we can totally relate to where he's coming from. As well as the superpowers, which we also have," the writers reiterated.

Several media outlets like Screen Rant and Collider pointed out that the latest portrayals of Peter Parker and his wall-crawling alter ego seemed to be more engulfed with heavy drama. This is perhaps opposite to what fans have known of the character who is quite adept in throwing humorous remarks as well as exchanging sarcastic lines with foes and allies alike.

The coming of Daley and Goldstein, whose previous works were comedy-centric, could be considered an effort by Marvel and Sony to continue the comedic yet action-packed trend on all its MCU movies.
