'Spider-Man' Reboot News, Update: 'Vacation' Writers Say They Will Avoid Spidey's Origin Story

Writing and directing duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein recently appeared on "The Andy Greenwald Podcast" this week for the press promotion of their 2015 comedy film, "Vacation."

Along with the feel-good movie, Daley and Goldstein also discussed about their plans for their upcoming project with Marvel and Sony, the "Spider-Man" reboot film.

Echoing what Marvel head Kevin Feige previously said, Goldstein reiterated that the next outing of the web-slinger won't be an origin story.

"I think that everybody feels like you know he got bit by a spider and you know Uncle Ben died, and we probably don't need to revisit that," he said.

"I think it'll be a fun departure from the Peter Parker you've seen, where now he is truly a kid and I think the stakes are increased in that his struggle through high school is very real and isn't just a sort of side note; it matters now," Daley chimed in.

The "Horrible Bosses" duo went on to share the path that they envisioned for Tom Holland's Peter Parker to traverse.

"We want to explore the fact that just because you get superpowers doesn't make you into a really sophisticated, successful adult. He's still a kid and he's clumsy and he's a geek and he's a bit of an outcast, and in many ways the superpowers amplify that and exacerbate his trying to fit in."

As previously reported, the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will first appear next year in "Captain America: Civil War" where he will join Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. as Steve Rogers/ Cap America and Tony Stark/ Iron Man, respectively.

The superhero's upcoming standalone movie, on the other hand, will follow on July 28, 2017.
