The 12-year-old victim of a horrendous attack meant to appease a demonic character known as Slender Man is doing well, and her family calls her recovery "miraculous" in a new statement. The young girl, whose identity is still being protected, recently enjoyed a night out with her father and shared pictures saying "Thank You," to all those who have offered prayers and support.

"Our family would like to thank everyone who has supported our daughter on her miraculous road to recovery," her family posted on a special Facebook page. "Our little girl has received thousands of purple hearts from numerous countries and from most continents. Together as a family, we continue to adjust to our 'new normal.' She has a courageous heart and bravely deals with both the physical and emotional challenges since the attack."

The pre-teen was led into a wooded area by two friends, also 12, and stabbed nearly 19 times. Incredibly, she managed to survive and climb to the roadside for help. A man saw her, stopped, and immediately got her life-saving help. The family has been busy taking care of the young girl and posting to Facebook to keep people updated about her life post-attack.

"Though many days consist of medical appointments and rehabilitation, recently she and her father enjoyed a 'daddy – daughter night at the movies' and thoroughly enjoyed a Disney film. It also included (after much persistence) a stop for a much-deserved treat at the snack area," the Facebook post read.

The attackers in the case have been charged as adults, meaning that they will receive a much harsher sentence than if they were tried as juveniles. The judge in the case was taken aback by the brutality and seeming senselessness of the crime. The court recently ordered a mental examination of one of the girls, and lawyers said that they may seek to raise mental competence as an issue.
