'Star Trek Online' Season 12 for Xbox One and PS4 Launches April 18

Arc Games has announced a release date for the upcoming season 12 of "Star Trek Online." The update, which features a new episode as well as the usual content drop of new missions and items, will be launching on Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on April 18.

The sci-fi massively multiplayer online (MMO) game "Star Trek Online" is set to launch its twelfth expansion called "Star Trek Online: Reckoning." The update releases on April 18, and a new featured episode called "Of Signs and Portents" will be in the center of the new content for the upcoming season, according to the official announcement on Arc Games. The new update, like the base game, will be free of charge, according to The Xbox Hub.

The upcoming update will send "Star Trek Online" players on missions with the Lukari in various new areas of the game. Together, they will investigate and eventually come face-to-face with an emerging threat in the form of the dangerous Tzenkethi.

The updates that will come with "Star Trek Online: Reckoning" will put the console players of the MMO on par with the content available on the PC version of the game. The new features, some of which were already released earlier for the PC, includes the new featured episode, the new Kits and Modules Research crafting school plus a new battlezone. The update also includes two new Tzenkethi space queues, called "Gravity Kills" and "The Tzenkethi Front."

According to the summary from the Arc Games site announcement, the new featured episode is mostly centered around the Tzenkethi threat. " Captains will join the Lukari on a mission to investigate weaponized use of protomatter in a new region of the Alpha Quadrant. Further evidence leads them to the Tzenkethi, a highly intelligent, militant species who plan on using the deadly substance to build a bomb capable of wiping out entire planets."

A new non-playable character, the legendary Klingon General Rodek, will have voice lines provided by actor Tony Todd.
