Star Wars Battlefront 3 Release Date: PS4, Xbox One and PC Versions Available Summer 2015

The much anticipated Lucasfilm-inspired game "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" will not be entirely related to the upcoming space opera film "Star Wars: Episode VII," reports confirmed. Game makers Electronic Arts (EA) has released a statement recently that Battlefront 3 is set for a release in the coming summer of 2015 for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 platforms.

"What we're building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars Universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made," EA Executive VP Patrick Soderland said.

Although there will be more resemblance to the upcoming movie plot, still they wanted a story much more detached from the epic.

I wouldn't say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the new movie but I wouldn't say that we are directly tied to it," Soderland added.

Karl-Magnus Troedsson, general manager of EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE), recently had a conversation with MCV where he expressed the studios eagerness to do "Battlefield 3." The reason of which is that Star Wars – the movie and the culture itself- "has a very special place in their hearts."

He also said that upon presented with the opportunity to do the game, they quickly grabbed it.

Meanwhile, popular game rater and reviewer Gameranx.com considered "Death Star" and "Executor" as some of the most impressive lore pieces.

"Of course what most fans think of here is that Lira Wissex prize creation, the Executor, Darth Vader's personal starship," the website wrote. "Although this ship would eventually meet its doom in the battle of Endor, while it was active, it was the premier flagship of the Imperial Navy. Armed to the gills with cannons and tractor beam projectors, and be able to carry as much as 144 TIE series Starfighters, the Executor is a suitable battle ground for many a battlefront fracas."
