Star Wars: Battlefront Design Director Talks Game Map and Image Rendering Technology

Not much has been known about the next EA and DICE upcoming first-person shooting video game "Star Wars: Battlefront" ever since it was announced at the E3 2014.

But that won't be the case anymore Star Wars: Battlefront design director Niklas Fegraeus revealed some essential details about the game's map and the studio's use of a sophisticated image rendering system.

"What we get from that is not only incredibly varied scales, but also gameplay that will allow players to live out some of their most memorable Star Wars battle fantasies," he went on to say.

The game director also revealed to the publication about the studio's "internally developed photogrammetry systems" which, as found out, was used to achieve an "incredible level of detail" by using photographed images.

As one of the highly anticipated video games to arrive sometime in 2015, Fegraeus admits that it was a big challenge to meet the high expectations of fans.

"Perhaps the hardest part about bringing the franchise back is managing expectations," he said. However "with the talent we have here at DICE, the Frostbite technology at our fingertips, and the fantastic working relationship we have with Lucas, I believe we will deliver a Star Wars experience that excites fans around the world and gives them the chance to play out battles in some of the most iconic locales in the series history."
