'Star Wars Battlefront' News, Update: Beta to Arrive This October; DICE To Provide Dedicated Servers

While the world is preparing for one of the highly-anticipated cinematic events, the showing of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens," the interactive side of the franchise is also getting prepped up.

The latest report from PCMag.com cited the announcement made by Electronic Arts on Monday that the company is now getting ready to roll out the Beta version of its most awaited gaming title, "Star Wars Battlefront," which will commence "in early October."

The said version, according to the site, will be made available for players of PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on PC. EA is calling the beta a "technical test," which will offer players the chance to get their hands on several of the new game modes including the Walker Assault on Hoth as well as the 20 vs 20 multiplayer battle between the Rebels and the Empire.

New gaming contents are also said to come along with the Beta like the Survival Mission on Tatooine which calls on players to go on a mission with a Rebel friend to hold off the wave of Imperial forces.

New modes are to be expected, too. EA, however, chose to remain mum on the details about this game mode only known as the Drop Zone.

Meanwhile, an update, this time coming from IGN.com said that EA will be providing dedicated servers for Battlefront.

Quoting the words of senior producer Jamie Keen, who recently spoke with PlayStation LifeStyle, it was revealed that although the upcoming sci-fi shooter title won't have a server browser, it will, however, have dedicated servers that aim to provide "unparalleled" online service for the players.

"We'll still have dedicated servers. Absolutely," Keen said (via IGN). "It's one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver an unparalleled online [service] for the game."

"Star Wars Battlefront" is slated to hit the shelves on November 17, 2015. Stay tuned for more updates.
