'Star Wars' Episode 7 Casting Rumors, News: First Phase Finished, Benedict Cumberbatch Cameo Leaked
Last week, production for the upcoming space opera sequel "Star Wars: Episode 7," has already wrapped up the first stage of the project, according to reports.
Director J.J. Abrams made the announcement through a special note which the producers sent out to the cast and crew of "SW: E7," Screen Crush reported. The note even landed on the social media when James Rose posted it on his Twitter, which was later picked up by the site Making Star Wars.
"Last day on set for some friends today! #StarWarsEpisodeVII #StarWars," the tweet read.
"Star Wars: Episode 7" will once again, feature the acts of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. New additional cast members include Adam Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong'o, and Oscar Issac, among others.
A separate report from The Telegraph U.K. pointed out an anonymous source that claimed to have "inside information" about the recent filming. The insider said "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch filmed a cameo last week.
"Speculation surrounding Cumberbatch and a Star Wars role has been rife for a while now, but the actor has consistently refused to confirm the rumours," the Telegraph reported.
Furthermore, the informant spoke about Warwick Davies playing a "Cantina Musician" and Simon Pegg portraying the role of an alien.
"Pegg's alien is allegedly involved in a confrontation with the character played by Daisy Ridley and with Chewbacca, whose arm is in a sling," the site said.
The production studio or from the crew has not responded to the rumors.
As for the film's release date, it is slated to hit the theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
