'Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi': More Details About How Rey and Luke Skywalker Will Interact Revealed

Rey and Luke's relationship to be featured more prominently in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) are expected to be focal points of the upcoming film "Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi," and specifically, the relationship between the two characters is expected to be detailed further.

Just recently, new details about how Rey and Luke will be working together were revealed when the first footage of the new movie was shown off during a Disney investors' conference.

The footage in question is not widely available just yet, but a recent report from /Film does detail some of the interesting things shown, including some tidbits related to Rey and Luke.

First off, it is revealed that Rey will apparently continue to use Luke's lightsaber. At one point, while still using the lightsaber, Rey will be spotted by Luke, but the footage does not show off more beyond that.

The first footage of the upcoming film seems to hint once again that Rey and Luke will be doing a lot of things together in "The Last Jedi," including but possibly not limited to training.

Speaking earlier to USA Today, director Rian Johnson spoke briefly about what is in store for Rey and Luke in the latest installment of the "Star Wars" franchise, hinting that the former will soon begin to develop a strong bond with the latter.

Johnson added that Luke himself will still be featured prominently in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," with the film primarily putting more focus on what's been going on with him recently.

One more thing, the first footage of the new film also apparently includes an instance where Rey is shown briefly using the Force, according to a report from Movie Pilot, and that may be another thing that she and Luke will work on in the movie.

"Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" is expected to hit U.S. cinemas on Dec. 15.
