'Star Wars' New App: 'Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes' Challenges Players to 'Collect to Conquer'

Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) announced on Friday, Nov. 27 its latest free content, "Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes." The new app challenges players to collect characters and combat opponents RPG style.

In a post at the game's official site, the game developer announces another addition to the already wide "Star Wars" universe.

The game offers players the chance to collect iconic "Star Wars" heroes and other characters from every "Star Wars" era, like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and many more. They will get a chance to collect characters from the original trilogy, prequel films, and "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," "Star Wars Rebels," and other animated TV shows.

But more than collecting characters, the game will require players to build teams and come up with the best strategy to win in battles. Players will get the chance to create their dream "Star Wars" team. Whether playing for the light or dark side, players will need to assemble characters based on their complementary abilities. These squads will then engage in RPG-style fights.

Strategy is the name of the game so players need to make tactical decisions and train powerful champions. Each character has powerful attacks and abilities and can be equipped with powerful gear. Players can also unlock special leader abilities that, in turn, unleash moves such as Chewbacca's Wookiee Rage, Darth Sidious' Force Lightning, and many more.

Battles will be located or staged in "Star Wars" franchise's most iconic locations such as Tatooine, Geonosis, Hoth, Bespin, Coruscant, and more.

To celebrate its launch week, the developer is offering a "Star Wars: The Force"-inspired First Order stormtrooper as the first free unlockable character for the game. This promo lasts until Dec. 4 only and requires a player to complete the "Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes" tutorial.

The game is available for iOS and Android devices. Players should also note that "Star Wars Galaxy Heroes" has in-app purchases.
