'Star Wars' News and Theories: Could Mace Windu Still Be Alive in the 'Star Wars' Universe?

Samuel L. Jackson's Character Could Still Be Alive

During the "Star Wars" prequel movies, Samuel L. Jackson played the part of Jedi Master Mace Windu. Who, next to Master Yoda, was one of the most powerful Jedi's of that particular time. Unfortunately, Master Windu met his untimely doom at the hands of Darth Vader and Darth Sidious near the end of "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith."

However, Jackson believes that his character could have easily survived the events that many believe caused his death. When asked about the theory that Windu could have survived the fall from the window that caused his character's fate, Jackson stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio, "Of course he (Windu) survived! Jedi survive falls like that all the time. There is a long history of one handed Jedi."

So could the Jedi Master survive a fall like that after taking the full force of Darth Sidious' force lighting and losing his hand?

Windu Has a High Midi-Chlorian Count

The "Star Wars" prequel movies were infamous for introducing the midi-chlorian into the series canon. The midi-chlorian are this symbiotic, intelligent organisms that live in all living things. These organisms allow one to gain knowledge and use the force depending on the amount living in their bodies.

When Obi-Wan took a sample of Anakin Skywalker's blood, his midi-cholrian count was over 20,000 and was the highest he has ever seen. Yoda had always been known to have the highest count in his system, and considering Windu was always considered the next best Jedi to Yoda, his count could have been high as well.

Midi-cholrian in Windu's system would not allow him to die with something as simple as a long fall. His body could have automatically saved from certain death and survived through the force.

Jedi Have Survived Falls Greater Than Windu's Fall

The Jedi during the prequel movies have been known to take risks, especially when going after what they think is the correct course of action. Anakin Skywalker, in particular, was fond of taking unnecessary risks.
One such feat that Skywalker performed was in "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones." While chasing after a suspected assassin through the crowded skies of Coruscant, the young Jedi jumped from his vehicle and fell for what could have been a few stories and survived.

This could mean that Windu could have done the same, seeing that the hight from the window he fell from was still pretty high and it was not known if he was conscious or not during the fall.

George Lucas Agrees with Jackson

During the interview, Jackson states that he took the idea to franchise creator George Lucas, with Lucas saying "I'm okay with that. You can be alive."

While Lucas does not have the final word on who ultimately lives or dies in the "Star Wars" universe anymore since he sold the franchise to Disney, he still has a large amount of influence.
