'Star Wars Rebels' Premiere News: 'Droids in Distress' Episode Recap and Review

While "Star Wars Episode VII" has yet to arrive in theaters, fans of the intergalactic space fiction can enjoy the new animated TV series, entitled "Star Wars Rebels." "Rebels" is set in the Star Wars universe 14 years after the events of "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" and five years prior to "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope."

Airing on the Disney XD channel, Rebels takes place during an era when the galaxy is under the grip of the Galactic Empire. The story will follow a group of rebels who are hunted down by the imperial forces.

While "Star Wars Rebels" was officially opened with an hour long movie on Oct. 3, entitled "Spark of Rebellion," the recently-aired first episode was released on Disney XD last night and it was called "Droid in Distress."

The story opened up with the crew of Ghost looking for ways to earn some money to keep their operation going. They went to Vizago (Keith Szarabajka), the chief scoundrel of the Lothal underground.

The show also introduced the beloved C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 who accompanied an Imperial official. Fans were outwardly amused at how the droids behaved, as it was much more like in the movies.

The clip was further praised by Screen Rant, pointing out how it "created a well-rounded group of characters."

"Judging from other past clips, each member of the group will have their own unique talents and specialities, ranging from piloting skills and using the force to knowledge of weaponry and more. Together the motley crew of the Ghost will be instrumental in taking on the Empire and preparing the way for future events in the franchise," they stated.

Next episode to watch out for is entitled "Fighter Flight" which is scheduled to air this coming Monday, Oct. 20, at 9 p.m. on Disney XD.
