'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Casting News Reveals Actor Andy Serkis' Role

The role to which Andy Serkis will play in the upcoming big screen movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has finally been revealed "partially."

A report from Gamespot.com cited the official Star Wars update website sharing an image of the 51-year-old English actor who is known for his portrayal of the iconic CGI characters Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings" series and Caesar the Ape in "Dawn of the Planet of Apes." The picture shows him sitting in a studio and is suited up in his motion-capture gear.

Serkis's involvement was first teased when it was confirmed that the narrator for the first Star Wars 7 trailer was him. What follows is a mystery regarding the identity of the growling voice until this week.

The publication revealed that the actor will take on the role of someone named "Supreme Leader Snoke."

Screen Rant dished out further details about the character, who is now being rumored to be a villain in the upcoming film. The site said that there's a fat chance that Snoke will be "the leader in The First Order" – "the name the remnants of the Galactic Empire are now operating under in Force Awakens," the site said. This organization emerged thirty years after the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of Darth Vader.

Another speculation from the website stated that Snoke is Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) master. The latter was seen in the trailer wielding the once-controversial red light saber.

Or he could be both Ren's sage and the First Order's leader. Needless to say, this information needs to be taken with a proverbial grain of salt.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is slated to hit the theaters this Dec. 18, 2015.
