'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': Yoda Cameo Almost Happened, Reveals Film's Editors

Those who watched "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" might have noticed how a certain green alien didn't appear on screen. The film's editors recently revealed how Yoda almost got included in the blockbuster hit.

Entertainment Tonight spotted "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" editors Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey during the 66th annual ACE Eddie Awards. In an exclusive interview, the film editors revealed that the popular Jedi master was considered in the sequel but ultimately did not make the cut.

"There was one point where we were actually thinking of having Yoda in the film, and then we decided not to," Brandon told ET. "Frank Oz came in for a day and did a whole bunch of Yoda and he was over the moon to do it — and we were tickled pink!"

Master Yoda would have made a cameo in Rey's (Daisy Ridley) "The Force" vision. It was previously revealed that this scene includes voices from Obi-Wan Kenobi actors Ewan McGregor and Alec Guiness.

The character of Ridley has been the subject of speculations recently. In particular, fans are wondering about Rey's lineage. Some say she could be the daughter of Luke Skywalker (Luke Hamill), while others say she could be Obi-Wan's granddaughter.

Whatever the case may be, "Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow had previously revealed that Rey is an important character in the franchise's universe. The "Star Wars: Episode IX" director added that fans will find the answers to their questions regarding Rey to be "deeply and profoundly satisfying."

"Star Wars: Episode IX" is scheduled to release in 2019. Before that, fans can catch Rey, Finn, and the rest of the cast in "Star Wars: Episode 8," which will hit theaters in December 2017. Meanwhile, the spin-off and first "Star Wars" anthology "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will come out later this year.
