Steam Lunar New Year Sale Opens With 'Choose-Your-Own-Adventure'

Valve has recently finished its Winter Sale which ended in January. Now that February has come in, the online game retailer is launching another sale in time for the Lunar New Year. According to a Tech Times report, the Chinese Lunar New Year Sale of Steam is said to feature many games on sale, with huge discounts.

As with any sale, daily deals are on offer which changes every day. Today, the games on highlight include "South Park: The Stick of Truth," "Cities Skylines," and "Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor" among others.

With a focus on adventure, the online store tries to hook its users in a different manner, which starts with asking the user whether he or she prefers to drive or swim. When a user chooses the swim option, he is pointed to adventure games which are aquatic in nature. Among the games included in the list are "Shutshimi," "Stranded Deep," "Depth," "Depth Hunter 2," "From the Depths," "BioShock 2" and "Windward," among others. As much as 80% discounts are on offer, according to the listing of games. When the drive option is selected, racing games are listed, which include "Gas Guzzlers Extreme" and "Drift Streets Japan" among others.

Even if a user has already made an initial selection, another choice is given when he or she scrolls down the page. The choices are whether the user will side with the Ninjas or the Pirates. One's choice again will bring one to a list of games which are either pirate games or ninja games.

According to the report, the questions and the choices will be changing everyday according to what games are up on sale.

Steam's Lunar New Year Sale will run until February 12, which gives gamers enough time to pore through the game choices and buy those that they may have been eyeing to get for a long time.
