Stedman Bailey Condition Latest News: Rams Coach Says Receiver Is Expected to Survive

St. Louis Rams receiver Stedman Bailey is battling for his life after being shot twice in the head during a drive-by shooting in Miami last Tuesday, and early reports came in saying that the third-year NFL player was in critical condition. The good news is that Rams head coach Jeff Fisher revealed on Friday that Bailey is "expected to survive" from the wounds he got from the shooting.

This certainly is good news for Rams fans who are still shocked with what happened. Bailey immediately underwent surgery after the incident and will miss the remaining games of the season. Fisher revealed that the receiver is doing great after surgery in his interview with "Sirius XM Radio." However, the coach also said that Bailey will be spending several days in intensive care because of the seriousness of his condition and that the 25-year-old almost died as a result of his wounds.

Everyone in the league was in shock when the news about the shooting was revealed, and Bailey's teammates sent him high hopes and well-wishes for his speedy recovery. Several players from the Rams were seen wearing his jersey number or his initials on their cleats and towels during the team's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fellow receivers Brian Quick and Kenny Britt had the code "SB12" printed on their towels.

Their teammate is expected to be confined in a hospital in South Florida for a long time after the successful surgery on Wednesday.

St. Louis is currently facing a whirlwind season, with Bailey's shooting incident and QB Case Keenum's concussion issue in Week 11. The team is currently at 4-7 and is fighting hard to stay in the hunt for a postseason spot. Bailey, for his part, is still serving his suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Talk about a bad season.
