Steve Jobs Private Memorial Service Being Held Today
In honor of former Apple co-founder and chief executive Steve Jobs, Apple is holding a private memorial service for its employees today.
In an e-mail to all Apple employees, current CEO Tim Cook scheduled the event for 10 a.m. today. It is set to take place at the company's headquarters in Cupertino, California. It will also be webcast to other Apple employees worldwide.
Cook's e-mail also stated that the private memorial service will take place within the Apple campus' outdoor amphitheater.

Tim Cook told Apple employees that this celebration of Jobs' life is meant to "take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place."
A memorial service for Jobs at Stanford University also occurred last Sunday for friends and family. Oracle chief Larry Ellison, Microsoft's Bill Gates and politicians including Bill Clinton came out to honor Jobs' memory.
U2 frontman Bono and Joan Baez reportedly performed at the Stanford University memorial service.
The Apple website homepage is also paying homage to the deceased Steve Jobs. On it, the company wrote, "Over a million people from all over the world have shared their memories, thoughts, and feelings about Steve. One thing they all have in common - from personal friends to colleagues to owners of Apple products - is how they’ve been touched by his passion and creativity. You can view some of these messages below."
Some fans have taken to the website to voice their heartfelt opinions of Jobs.
This short piece, titled "Steve Jobs is a Hero" said, "Dear Apple, It is very sad to know that such a genius had left us. He has always been my hero, my role model. His words have always been inspiring. ‘Stay hungry, stay foolish’ has become my motto in life, get me to reflect and be true to myself. Even though he can no longer be with us, he had lived a legend and the whole world is lamenting. I really hope Apple could carry on his passion, and do the best that you can to carve out another legend just like him, for he had already built a foundation for you to get going. Wish you all the best and stay tough! I am an Apple fan and will stay tune on your products."
Steve Jobs lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Oct. 5. He passed away at the age of 56.
