Street Fighter 5 Beta to Kick Off on July 23

Street Fighter 5 is entering into a beta phase on July 23, and is currently accepting applications for beta testers until July 14. The beta test will only be available for PlayStation 4 owners and will kick off on July 23: for North America, at 6 p.m. Pacific Time or 11 p.m. Eastern Time and for Europe, July 24 at 2 a.m. GMT.

The beta will run for five days. The roster of fighters who will available for the beta were likewise announced in the report. The first set of fighters will include Ryu, Chun Li, Nash and M. Bison. Cammy and Birdie will join the fray on July 25.

According to the report, the main purpose of the beta test is "to test online functionality, there will be no local versus options." Among the stages that will be included are the Grid, the Bustling Side Street in China, the Terminal Station in London and the Forgotten Waterfall in New Zealand.

Gamers who want beta access will have different options for joining depending on their location. Those in North America need to pre-order the game from selected sellers such as Gamestop, Amazon, Best Buy or the PSN. This guarantees a key that will be given on July 20 that they can use for beta access. Those in Latin America can only pre-order through the PSN.

Those who live in Europe and Australia however cannot be guaranteed a spot in the beta. The report included a sign-up link which closes on July 15. Notifications will be sent on July 24.

For those in Asia, they have to be PlayStation Plus members and they need to download the "Street Fighter V Closed Beta Test Ticket" at the PlayStation Store from July 9-14th. Those who will be selected will be notified by July 21. This is only available in Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong.
