'Suicide Squad' Plot Spoilers, Cast Rumors, News: Batman to Appear in Stand-Alone Movie?

New developments on the upcoming Warner Bros. film "Suicide Squad" indicated that a major DC Universe character might appear in the stand-alone movie.

The Latino-Review reported that Batman will be featured in the Suicide Squad film by getting "mentioned and shown on camera footage."

However, a contradicting statement from Forbes indicated that the Caped Crusader will apparently appear "in an in-story scene, likely at the end of the film and focused on certain circumstances involving the Joker." This might offer hints on a "future solo Batman film."

The forthcoming superhero film reportedly features Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevinge as Dead Shot, Joker, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang and Enchantress, respectively.

Speaking of cast news, Variety.com recently indicated in their report that after Tom Hardy's departure from the role of Rick Flag, information coming from the people with knowledge about the project reveals that Jake Gyllenhaal has also passed on the offer to play the leadership role in the crime-fighting, all former-villain superhero team.

Warner Bros. has not released a statement confirming or denying the rumors.

Production of the film has not started yet, although the David Ayer-helmed "Suicide Squad" is slated to open in theaters August 5, 2016.
