'Sunshine Superman': Indie Documentary Gets Great Reviews

An indie documentary film, "Sunshine Superman," tells a story of Carl Boenish, the father of BASE jumping movement. This heart racing documentary shows the portrait of Boenish and his passion for skydiving.

Viewers will be able to experience what it is like to live in a jaw-dropping journey with Boenish and his wife Jean. The skydiving husband and wife celebrated their life and love as they broke the Guinness World in 1984 when the pair conquered the Norwegian "Troll Wall" mountain range, which was unfortunately followed by a devastating disaster.

The documentary is seen as one of the best indie films ever filmed, so far. A number of critics give the movie an "A" rating. Josh Anderson of Toronto Review commented that "Sunshine Superman" is one of the best U.S. docs of the year.

"Strauch creates enormous drama from the clips at her disposal – not just the Boenish material, but movie clips and found footage, all of which are deftly handled. The choices of period pop used throughout, which ranges from Electric Rise Orchestra to Thunderclap Newman, is seldom predictable but always emotionally right," he wrote.

Magnolia Pictures teamed up with CNN Films for the release of the indie film. The film's director and writer Marah Strauch talks about the partnership.

"Magnolia Picture and CNN Films are the perfect partners for 'Sunshine Superman,' a film about taking risks and following your dreams," she stated. "We are very excited to share our film with the people all across the country and to be working with a team that understands the power of documentaries that not only change the world but also entertain."

Follow Carl and Jean's journey shown in an intelligent mix of Boenish's 16mm archive footages with state-of-the-art photography, and wonderfully crafted re-enactments on its initial release on May 22, 2015.
